The $2 million project is being fundex 95 percent by the FederalAviation 2.5 percent by the statd of Arizona aviation unit with the remainder cominhg from Scottsdale’s capital improvement money, said Annie airport spokeswoman. The project will dig up the existin runway and replace all the asphaly inthe airport’s single 8,250 foot-long runway. including a specific timeline are stillbeing developed. “We understand that this is going to be challenginbg and that is why we are trying to give as much advanc notice as possible aboutthe closure, so people can really prepare for this and get this on their radar DeChance said.
The project will take places within either July or Augusttof 2010, with crews working around the clock. “Thids is taking out the existing concrete basicallhy down tothe dirt. The summer time is when therw is the least amountf of traffic at the DeChance said.
