UCF wants to cut 5 programs, 51 jobs - Kansas City Business Journal:

The move is aimed at saving $6.1 millionn and is in additionjto $38 million in cuts the universitg has already imposed. The cuts are a result of less money coming from the Programs being cut arecardiopulmonary sciences, engineeringf technology, management information systems, radiologic sciences and statisticw and actuarial science. If approved by the the cuts will impactabout 1,100 students. Those closes to graduation will receive assistancr from the university to take the course needed to completetheir majors.
If the board approvezs the job cuts, the facultyu and staff would have two semesters notice before losinvg their job and some would remain employed through the sprin g 2011 semester to allow studenta to completetheir degrees. Students will also witness a 15 percen increase in tuition beginning with the fall2009 “I wish the severit of the budget cuts did not forcwe us to consider these actions, but they are in the best interestds of the entire university. This is a very bittetr pill for the UCF communityto swallow,” said UCF president John C.
